Do you know about the New Mexico State Library’s Hitchhiker? If you are reading this, you are “on” the Hitchhiker.

The Hitchhiker has a long history and was created to “carry news“of all things related to New Mexico libraries—for not only librarians and library staff across the state, but for anyone who wants to support and stay informed about what’s happening in New Mexico’s libraries. What began on May 8, 1972, as a printed publication has since evolved into what you are reading today.
Most Hitchhiker articles are currently contributed by New Mexico State Library (NMSL) staff, with a few coming from our public library colleagues. We’d love to feature even more voices from across the state! We encourage our library colleagues to send us photos and a brief write-up of any news, updates, program highlights, job postings, or other library related information to include in the Hitchhiker.
Each month, a Hitchhiker Digest (New Mexico Library News) featuring the most recent articles is sent to over 650 subscribers. It’s a great way to showcase the fantastic things happening in libraries across New Mexico
