Research Assistance

New Mexico State Library provides specialized reference services to public libraries, legislative staff, state employees, historians, genealogists, and students of New Mexico state government, history and culture.

Collections

The New Mexico State Library collections include Southwest history and culture, and Federal and state government documents.

State government employees and members of the public can visit the State Library and use the library’s resources.  The library research room and reference desk is open from 1:00 to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Assistance in locating materials, and in using both paper and online resources can be obtained by contacting reference services.

Check for holdings in the State Library’s online catalog. Many of the library’s holdings are not included in the online catalog.  If you cannot find what you are looking for, contact a reference librarian by using Ask-a-Librarian or call 505-476-9702.
