Zuni Public Library

The Zuni Public Library came into being in 1974 as part of a project to establish tribal libraries in New Mexico. This project was headed by Dr. Lotsee Patterson and Mr. Ben Wakashige. Through the efforts of these two individuals, the Zuni Tribal Council, and the New Mexico State Library, the Zuni Public Library began serving the community in 1975. The ZPL is one of 19 tribal libraries in New Mexico and has been in operation for over 30 years. Oversight of the library is provided by the New Mexico State Library, Zuni Tribal Council, the Library Board and the Librarian. It is funded primarily by the Tribal General Fund and supplemented by funds from the New Mexico State Library and other grants.
