Visit to Lovington Public Library

Last week the Lovington Public Library invited me to attend their Summer Reading kickoff. It was a beautiful, warm day which was perfect since the kickoff was held outside in their parking lot and they had plenty to keep the kids cool. They had a giant bouncy house/water slide that was a hit! The line was huge and kids would hit the bottom then instantly go to the back of the line for another trip. They had 2 other bouncy houses, free shaved ice and hot dogs, face painting, water tosses, bubbles and registration inside the library.

After enjoying a hot dog, I toured the library and was wildly impressed by the Summer Reading decorations that could be found everywhere, including a baseball diamond on the ceiling! Many of the decorations are also prizes that can be earned through reading. The library also had a beautiful display of quilts on the walls, I spent quite a bit of time reading all the quilting puns/advice quilted onto one of them.

Much of this kickoff was made possible through a donation from a local company. They even got the kids to stop playing for just a few minutes while they made the check presentation!
