UNM – Organization, Information, and Learning Sciences Program Faculty (12/02/13)

UNM LogoThe College of University Libraries & Learning Sciences has a faculty opening in the Organization, Information, and Learning Sciences program. This position is a 9-month faculty appointment. The faculty rank and tenure status are negotiable based on qualifications and experience, with an anticipated start date of August 2014. The annual salary is negotiable based on qualifications and includes full benefits. The Organization, Information, and Learning Sciences (OI&LS) overarching strategic priority is to graduate students with interdisciplinary knowledge and innovative skills. OI&LS students will work in organizations where they are responsible for learning design and training, organizational development, instructional technology, and program evaluation. This is an exciting time for the OI&LS program since it moved to its new interdisciplinary home in the College of University Libraries & Learning Sciences (UL&LS). As a result, the OI&LS program is expanding and creating new collaborative relationships within the College, across the campus, and within the community, while further building faculty capacity to develop curriculum that is visionary and unique among our peer institutions, attractive to students, and that will serve their academic and professional needs far into the future.

Description: The newly hired faculty member will join the OI&LS program and provide leadership for the development of the learning sciences aspect of the program. The OI&LS program serves adult learners and working professionals with classes offered in the late afternoon and online. The candidate will primarily teach graduate courses in the multidisciplinary field of learning sciences, learning design based on constructivism, cognitive science, and sociocultural theories, design thinking, computer supported collaborative learning, and program evaluation. The candidate will be expected to engage in writing grant applications and advise master’s and doctoral students and chair and participate in theses and dissertation committees. The candidate will conduct research and produce scholarly publications in the area of learning sciences.
