The Public Library ABQ-BERNCO Juan Tabo branch had its official grand reopening June 29, 2016. Library Director, Dean Smith, City Councilor Trudy Jones, New Mexico House Representative Jimmie Hall, and Albuquerque Public Library Foundation Board Member Judy Gibbon were all present to welcome the community to its improved library.
The front of the library is home to a beautiful mosaic and large shade tree.
The Juan Tabo Branch opened in 1983 and didn’t see any major renovations until now. The library began making improvements in 2012, changing things like wall carpeting, paint, etc. In late 2015, work began to add a large community room to the buildings east end. Several months and many enhancements later, the library was ready to show off not only its new community room, but a new front entrance, updated bathrooms, new carpet, lighting, shelving, furniture, etc.
There is definitely some stylish and comfortable seating in this library! Not to mention modern new shelves.
The layout is bright and open and very welcoming. The Juan Tabo branch is also home to the seed library.
A lot of work went into this project and everyone involved should be very proud, as this is an amazing library. Thank you to branch manager Brita Sauer for inviting me to the grand reopening. Everything looks and feels fantastic. Well done!
