RIPL Regional Conference in October

RIPL Regional Coming to Texas in October!

Do you want to learn about:

  • Evaluating your programs and services?
  • Assessing the needs of your community?
  • Tracking public library data and using these data for planning, management, and demonstrating the library’s worth?
  • Using data and stories to document the impact of your library?

Launched in 2015, the Research Institute for Public Libraries (RIPL) provides public libraries with practical skills in assessment, evaluation, and benchmarking. Developed by the Colorado State Library and Colorado Library Consortium, RIPL 2015 and 2016 drew participants from around North America who convened in Colorado for three days of experiential learning. Thanks to the generous support of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), RIPL organizers are offering a series of two-day, state/regional events around the United States, including Texas. Participants will walk away from RIPL Regional with tools for evaluation, confidence in building research into their activities, and a network of colleagues for future learning and success.

RIPL Regional-Texas will be held on October 30-31, 2017, in Arlington. The Institute is limited to 50 attendees from Texas and surrounding states. The registration fee is $150 (to be invoiced after registration), and participants are responsible for all travel and accommodations costs. Participants will receive complimentary breakfast, lunch, and snacks on both days of the Lab. A small number of Texas public libraries serving populations of 12,000 or less will be eligible for a $1,000 travel stipend from the Tocker Foundation to cover registration fee, hotel, and other travel expenses.

Registration is hosted by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. We will open registration at 10:00AM CST on Monday, July 31, 2017, by posting the registration link on the Library Developments blog. We anticipate that the Institute will fill up quickly and that we will have a waiting list. Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis, though we reserve the right to ensure representation by geography and library size.
