Oceans of Possibilities – 2022 Summer Reading Program

It’s here, the 2022 Summer Reading Program (SRP) with the slogan, Oceans of Possibilities!

If you visit your local public library (and even public libraries in other states) you will likely see decorations and programs based around the theme of oceans. You (children and possibly adults) can also register to be eligible for incentives and grand prize drawings, just for keeping track of your reading!

Here are just few exciting things that are may be happening at your local public library (visit or see your local library website/Facebook page, etc. for more info):

  • Grab and go craft kits
  • Weekly craft times
  • Story times
  • STEAM challenges
  • LEGO challenges
  • Gaming (video & board games)
  • Book clubs
  • Cooking demonstrations
  • Themed costume parties
  • Raffles
  • Book giveaways
  • Special performers and educational presentations
  • Bingo cards to complete challenges
  • Music performances/concerts
  • Gardening tips, etc.
  • Escape rooms
  • Themed days with various activities
  • Magic shows
  • Local artist painting lessons

Many of New Mexico’s public libraries SRP began June 1, 2022 and will run through June and some into July, so be sure to stop in and see what events your local public library is offering this summer.
