Explora Science Museum and the New Mexico State Library are offering 2 new professional development for workshops this spring for public library staff in New Mexico on utilizing the STEM to Read program.

Explore, Engage, Create
Integrating STEM and Literacy into Library Programs
Explora workshop for Librarians

Using simple everyday objects and materials, delight, engage and develop in children a strong appetite for learning. Engage in a fun, thought provoking workshop full of science activities integrated with literature and math which you can use in your library. We’ll take an inquiry approach to learning, actively exploring physical materials. Explora educators will model engagement with materials and facilitation questions to assist librarians in developing skills for supporting science learning and literacy in their libraries. You’ll then have the opportunity to develop your own activity for children 0-5 years of age and their adults that you can immediately use in your library programming.

10 am – 2:30 pm
We’ll have a 30 minute break for lunch. Please bring a sack lunch

Monday, April 23 at Thomas Branigan Memorial Library (Las Cruces)
