New STEM to Read Professional Development Workshops Fall 2019

Explora Science Museum and the New Mexico State Library are offering 3 new professional  development workshops this fall for public library staff in New Mexico on utilizing the STEM to Read program.

Inspire, Discover, Investigate
Integrating STEM and Literacy into Library Programs
Explora workshop for Librarians

Simple everyday objects and materials will be part of the fun, thought-provoking workshop full of science activities integrated with literature and math which you can use in your library. We’ll use the theme of Imagination and stories to explore science, technology, engineering, art, and math for young children. You’ll engage with actual materials while building your skills for supporting and facilitating science learning and literacy in your library. You’ll then have the opportunity to develop your own activity for young children and their adults that you can immediately use in your library programming.

This workshop is intended to tie into the 2020 Summer Reading Program, Imagine Your Story.

10 am – 2:30 pm
We’ll have a 30 minute break for lunch. Please bring a sack lunch:

  • September 13th @ Taos Public Library
  • September 25th @ Marshall Memorial Library (Deming)
