STARTING RATE or SALARY RANGE: Negotiable
Employees being promoted to a higher classified position receive the minimum for the position or a pay rate adjustment of 8% whichever is greater.

JOB DUTIES:
Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs the Director is expected to clearly articulate and
implement an innovative vision of the modern academic library that enhances research, multidisciplinary study, cooperative partnerships and service across the NMT community it serves.

Successful candidates will recognize the need for ongoing organizational innovation that addresses the challenge of rapidly evolving research environments. Critical objectives include a new vision for learning spaces, exploration of research technologies, modernizing approaches to collection development, the redesign of organizational structures and staff roles in this dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will have a history of leadership and a thorough understanding of library technology, physical and virtual to support collaboration, scholarly activities, teaching and learning, and an interest in supporting scholarly projects. The effective administrator would be expected to exhibit a broad knowledge of trends and issues facing academic libraries (e.g. external fund development) coupled with a strong service orientation and demonstrated ability to inspire achievement in others.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree required in Library Science from an ALA accredited program with eight to ten years’ library experience and a minimum of five in a supervisory role.To be considered applicants must have extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of library science and administration including modern collection and digital resource development. Skill in planning, managing and utilizing library staff and resources will be required. Candidates will have demonstrated an ability to provide leadership and direction in an academic library by managing budgets, capital projects and by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, regional consortia and organizations.
