Halloween at the Magdalena Library

Submitted by Ivy Stover, Library Director Magdalena Public Library

I decorated the library on the first few days of October, and they’ll probably stay up for another week. Everyone really loved the tree in the front room, and kids made it a game to count how many spiders I hid around the library. I also frequently played Halloween music – kids and adults both really love the Monster Mash! Thriller was also popular, though I didn’t get any pictures of the kids trying that dance.

Halloween Goodie Bags each had an array of small toys, pencils, bookmarks, Halloween treats, candy, and a free book! Books were given out based on age, so I don’t have a picture of those. Bags were totally free, paid for by our Friends of the Library. All we needed were parents to fill out participation forms so we could track them, and they were ready for pick up the whole last week of October. I gave out about 30 bags and 15 more were given to the Fire Station to be handed out at night with their goodies.

I also did a #booktober project, where I highlighted a different book (or sometimes books) each day of October and posted them on social media.
