Flag Day is June 14th, 2019
Flag Day has been celebrated on June 14th since 1916. To recognize one of our greatest national symbols the New Mexico State Library has on display documents which detail how and when Flag Day came to be celebrated, the Public Law which calls for the pledge of allegiance to be recited during Flag Day, and a Department of Defense document telling you what everyone should know about our nation’s flag. Also on display is The flag in American Indian art by Toby Herbst from the Southwest Collection and from the General Collection, To the flag : the unlikely history of the Pledge of Allegiance by Richard Ellis.
