Purpose of Position

Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.

Why does the job exist?

This position resides at the New Mexico State Library Technical Services Bureau in Santa Fe. The Receiving, Processing and Distribution Associate receives and routes items delivered to the Bureau, processes items for the library collections, and distributes items for the New Mexico State Publications Program (per NMSA 1978 sec.18-2-4 (J)).

How does it get done?

Responsibilities include:
– handling items in electronic formats;
– using an integrated library system (currently the Polaris ILS) to create and edit item and issue records;
– using Microsoft Access to create and edit shipment lists;
-using a content management system (currently Contentdm) to describe and publish electronic items.

Who are the customers?

The Public Services Bureau at the New Mexico State Library, the New Mexico libraries in the state repository program, and colleagues.

Ideal Candidate

Will have:
– Library experience
– Inventory & shipping experience
– Computer experience

Minimum Qualification

High School Diploma or Equivalent and one (1) year of relevant experience. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License. Must obtain and maintain a current Defensive Driving Certificate from the State of New Mexico as a condition of employment.
Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Office setting, exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting.  Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
