Position Summary
The library specialist is responsible for assisting patrons with their information needs, managing library resources, organizing and maintaining library collections, providing research assistance, and promoting library programs and services. This position assists with cataloging, interlibrary loan services, technology support, and coordinating library events and workshops. The specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of a library setting and providing excellent customer service to library users.

Duties & Responsibilities:
-Checks library materials in and out, maintaining accurate circulation records.
-Supervises, directs, and trains library student employees in circulation duties.
-Assembles and arranges display materials to enhance library presentations.
-Troubleshoots problems with hardware and software systems in the library.
-Maintains and repairs hardware and software, including computers, media equipment, scanners, copiers, and printers.
-Utilizes library databases and online sources to assist patrons with research inquiries.
-Assists patrons in conducting research and evaluating search results and reference materials.
-Teaches students how to access information and research topics related to coursework.
-Aids faculty and staff in locating resources for research projects or studies.
-Delivers patron-centered programs and services to enhance library experiences.
-Teaches classes and provides instruction on information resources and basic information literacy skills.
-Develops and maintains information access aids, including electronic pathfinders and online tutorials.
-Collaborates with faculty to select information resources and training aids for classes.
-Evaluates and selects new books, videos, and materials for library collections.
-Coordinates interlibrary loans, organizes library materials, and maintains accurate circulation records.
-Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
Two (2) to three (3) years of full-time experience
One (1) year of related library experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience or enrolled in Master’s of Library and Information Science program

Position serves both Main Campus and West Side Campus.
