Employment Opportunity: Library Manager, Capitan Public Library, Capitan

Library Manager Position Available for Capitan Public Library, A 501c3 Nonprofit Library.

Seeking applicants for the main leadership role in a vacant “Library Manager Volunteer Position”.

The Capitan Public Library Board of Directors is looking for a Library Manager who is passionate about the role libraries play in a small rural community and who will continue to pursue our values of community engagement.

Typical Duties Include:

  • Event planning, public and governmental relations, reporting to the governing board, ensuring compliance with laws, interviewing volunteer candidates, managing the existing 20 volunteer staff, coordinating staff schedules.
  • Oversight to our thrift shop “NOT 2 SHABBY SHOP”.
  • Help implement library programs and services.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing along with some office computer skills.
  • Library Manager’s duties and possible compensation can vary greatly as is the case with small rural libraries.

Volunteer Position to start. Some small remuneration possible over time and commensurate with experience. NO prior library experience necessary.

Desired Qualifications: Several years of managerial or administrative experience, in the business world, though not necessary, would make the job more efficient.
