Job Summary/Basic Function | Directs the operations of the Santa Fe Community College Library. Must be committed to serving a diverse college community. Actively participates in and contributes to continuous quality improvement. |
Minimum Qualifications | • Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited university. • Seven (7) years related experience. |
Preferred Qualifications | • Experience in higher education. • Experience in supervision, planning, fiscal, budget management and administration of public funds/bonds in an academic library. |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | • Knowledge of professional library practices and standards. • Knowledge of leadership theories and practices. • Knowledge of college policies and procedures. • Knowledge of college personnel and budget management policies. • Knowledge of higher education practices and standards. • Knowledge of campus academic structure. • Knowledge of relevant reporting requirements. • Knowledge of current and developing trends in library management. • Knowledge of library collection development principles. • Knowledge of college purchasing policies and procedures. • Skill in the delegation of responsibility and authority. • Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs. • Skill in decision making and problem solving. • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public. • Skill in oral and written communication. • Ability to apply sustainability concepts into work systems. • Ability to apply Baldridge/AQIP-based management approaches. |

Pay Range | $68,111 – $102,166 |

Responsibility/Duty | Leads, directs and manages the Santa Fe Community College Library; provides professional-level leadership and development for all aspects of the professional staff, student employees, and library resources, services, and outreach; supervises, trains, mentors, evaluates and disciplines personnel; determines, approves, and monitors all staff workloads; discusses work related issues and needs with staff members; determines strategies to respond to those needs; provides feedback on job performance; locates, recommends and provides training opportunities for staff; mentors staff in matters related to career development; directs weekly staff meetings. |

Responsibility/Duty | Provides instruction, reference services, and general assistance to library patrons; directs the library’s information literacy program; works with deans, department chairs and faculty to integrate information literacy into the regular classroom; guides the development of library information, including electronic tutorials, print handouts, and presentations; develops and teaches information literacy sessions for staff, faculty and students; develops and delivers presentations to different campus groups; resolves a variety of patron problems. |
