Employment Opportunity: Library Collections and Technical Service Manager, Northern NM College, Espanola

The Northern New Mexico College in Espanola is hiring for a Library Collections and Technical Service Manager.

SUMMARY
The Library Collections and Technical Services Manager oversees all aspects of the physical collection and serves as the primary contact with the Business Office when processing payments. The Library Collections and Technical Services Manager will assist the Access Services/Operations Manager on special projects as assigned by the Library Director. This position will work under the direct supervision of the Library Director.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee and maintain library collection, including processing, maintenance, and inventory
• Perform adaptive cataloging/updates, maintain local holdings records, and perform limited original cataloging
• Coordinate collection development of all monographs and acquire library materials using library software and/or vendor databases
• Assist in monitoring departmental budget(s) through knowledge of the ordering system, tracking purchase requisitions, purchase orders, shipping documents, invoices, and other financial documents approved by the Library Director
• Process purchase requests and invoices, keep accurate records, and verify that all items on invoices have been received
• Coordinate and process course reserve materials
• Coordinate and process student billing and overdue fees
• Provide inter-library loan services for NNMC patrons and lending library patrons
• Manage and facilitate discovery of and accessibility of materials in Special Collections and College Archives
• Work collaboratively with the Access Services and Operations Manager to ensure inter-library loan, shelving, course reserves and other services are provided to patrons in a timely, cordial, efficient, and organized manner
• Suggest, coordinate, and facilitate user engagement initiatives geared towards improving user services
• Work with the Library Director to perform troubleshooting for computer software and electronic resources
• Work with the Library Director and faculty to develop online research guides that support the curriculum as well as resource instruction
• Help patrons access information through the use of the online catalog, the library website, library databases, and other search engines
• Staff public service desks, provide library orientations, instructional sessions, and reference services as needed
• Address and resolve complaints from patrons and/or staff, or forward to the director, as necessary
• Maintain library operations in the absence of the director, which may include opening and closing the facility
• Assist in maintaining a cooperative, friendly, and productive environment for learning, studying, and collaboration inside the library facility
• Perform any other related duties that may be assigned by the director
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree
• Three years prior library technical service related experience
• Experience working with platforms and databases; especially OCLC

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s Degree in Library Science or related field
• Familiarity with an integrated library system (especially cataloging and/or acquisition modules)
• Familiarity with MARC21 and Library of Congress Classification
• Experience working with platforms and databases; especially OCLC
• Experience using collaborative and office productivity tools such as Google Drive and MS Office
• Experience working with budgets

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Knowledge of library techniques, procedures, and working tools used in cataloging, records management, circulation, reference, and web development
• Ability to mentor, train, and supervise student employees
• Exhibit strong organizational skills and ability to establish priorities
• Ability to efficiently use a personal computer and applicable software, and a curiosity to explore other technology solutions in order to successfully perform the essential job functions of the position
• Ability to produce desired work outcomes, including quality, quantity, and timeliness
• Ability to plan and organize work, time, and resources, and if applicable, that of subordinates
• Ability to gather and use evidence and data to inform decisions
• Ability to exercise independent judgment in order to provide input on how to apply policies and procedures to specific situations
• Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance within college expectations
• Ability to Communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, subordinates, and library patrons
• Demonstrate strong customer relations and interpersonal skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Standing for extended periods of time
• Lifting, pushing and pulling up to 30 lbs on a frequent basis
• Bending, reaching, reaching overhead, stooping, and kneeling

WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Work is normally performed in a typical office environment
