Employment Opportunities: Library Professional 2 & Information Research Specialist 1, Brown Federal Services/LANL, Los Alamos

Brown Federal Services LogoThe Brown Federal Services (BFS), a staff augmentation supplier for the Los Alamos National Lab (LANL) is actively recruiting for two library services positions at LANL. Successful candidates would be employed as independent contractors of BFS working on-site at LANL in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Library Professional 2 (Digitization Coordinator): “The Research Library at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is looking for a Digitization Coordinator who will provide leadership in the digitization of unique scientific and technical information in support of the Laboratory’s mission to solve national security challenges through scientific excellence. This person will lead digitization daily operations by coordinating and overseeing all aspects of the digitization process, tracking, and quality control activities and work closely with information technologists to manage data workflows, storage, systems, and organization of digital content in document repositories.”

Information Research Specialist 1: “As an Information Research Specialist 1 you will digitize the Nanoscale Science Research Centers’ (NSRC) physical collections. You will assist with populating metadata/ indexing information about the digitized material that will be used to develop a robust catalog, provide quality control for the digitized materials. Complete minor maintenance and repairs of scanning equipment, set up scanning equipment for various media types and sizes and perform any finishing task associated with media to preserve original master copies. Assist Digital Collections Team Leader and Research Librarians with customer research requests for locating digitized technical information. Assure proper storage and handling of classified information. Contribute to the development and documentation of digitization workflows of archived media. Act as a classified matter custodian.”
