Culture Day – NM Makerstate Initiative

On Monday, January 27 Parachute Factory joined the New Mexico State Library at the Roundhouse to showcase some of our Makerspace Kits and the NMSL 3D printer program for the Department of Cultural Affairs’ Culture Day. Parachute Factory’s Elijah Gonzales, a 12 year old makerspace volunteer, setup and ran several displays for the State Library, including a Makey Makey driven Banana Piano and a 3D printed Gutenberg style printing press.

The display at Culture Day attracted many visitors, from politicians to kids, and was well received by all. There is definite excitement over the possibilities these makerspace activities provide, and we’re really looking forward to getting them out into libraries across the state.
