Provide library services to patrons in rural and underserved communities by driving a bookmobile to designated stops along the service route in eastern New Mexico. This service includes assisting patrons to identify and select library materials in order to meet their informational and recreational reading needs, requesting needed materials from other libraries, answering basic reference questions, and re-shelving library materials. Other responsibilities include using an automated library system to check materials in and out, to maintain patron files, to keep statistics and to create monthly and quarterly reports. Daily bookmobile runs result in work schedules that require overnight travel, and work days that range from 8-10 hours. On a rotating basis employees share driving the bookmobile, travel 3 weeks each month and work from the base office in Tucumcari when not on the road.
