State Library Staff To Present at NMLA Annual Conference

New Mexico Library Association 2025 Conference LogoWhen the New Mexico Library Association Annual Conference takes place later this month, more than a dozen New Mexico State Library staff will be offering presentations sharing their expertise with library professionals from across the state. This year’s conference, with a theme of Making Due: Navigating Challenges with Ingenuity and Resourcefulness, includes an optional pre-conference day and two full-days of program sessions, keynote addresses, and author events.

New Mexico State Library staff and bureaus will be presenting the following sessions:

Morning Pre-Conferences: Wednesday, October 22

Respectful Representation: Acquiring and Displaying Native American Art and Artifacts in Your Library
Cassandra Osterloh, Tribal Libraries Program Coordinator
Bring stories, not just objects into your libraries. This session explores how to thoughtfully acquire and display Native American art and artifacts through respectful collaboration, honoring culture, and curating with care. Learn to turn exhibits into bridges between communities, history and healing.

Copy Cataloging Demystified: Learn the Basics of MARC and Catalog with Confidence

Become a better cataloger! You interact with MARC records on a daily basis, but did you ever wonder what all those field numbers mean? Participants will learn the most common MARC fields and how to apply this understanding in their daily copy cataloging workflows.
