The Rio Rancho Public Library is hiring a Librarian I, Bookmobile Librarian.
Salary: $21.94 – $27.42 Hourly
Education, Training, Experience, Certifications, Licenses and Registrations:
Education / higher education: Bachelor’s Degree in any field
Minimum number of years of directly related experience: Two years’ experience working in a library setting or experience with any combination of similar experience in program development, event planning, teaching, inventory selection or management, bookstore experience, or technical customer service experience in any industry. A Master’s Degree in Library Science may be substituted for all required education and experience.
Education and/or experience preferences: Public library experience preferred.
Driver’s License requirement: Frequent Driver — Regular Driver’s License

The Bookmobile Librarian will become the face of our Mobile Library to the Rio Rancho community. The Mobile Library should be on the road around the end of the 2024 calendar year, and our new Librarian’s first duties will be to work with current Library staff to stock the vehicle and to develop appropriate workflows. As a member of the Library’s Community Engagement Team, the Bookmobile Librarian will be the Mobile Library’s primary driver; providing Library services at a wide variety of locations throughout the City of Rio Rancho including parks, community centers, preschools, senior centers, and participating in City events including parades and festivals.
The Mobile Library is a 26’ Starcraft Allstar minibus outfitted with bookshelves, wi-fi, ADA-accessible features and more. The vehicle does not require a CDL, and any applicant who has – or who can get – a valid New Mexico driver’s license is eligible to operate it.
