Position Summary | The College of University Libraries & Learning Sciences (UL&LS) is seeking a full time Library Info Specialist 3 with strong customer service experience/skills, proven ability to work effectively in a team environment, and interest in learning new skills. We seek someone who is enthusiastic about working in an active environment doing a wide variety of tasks. The current vacancy is in the Zimmerman Library, Resource Sharing Unit, and is part of the Access Services group within the Public Services Division.
This position provides time-sensitive library services to UNM faculty, students, and staff. It involves processing requests for books and articles, correcting citations, and searching and ordering using the integrated library system and databases. Problem solving and analytical skills, including the ability to solve complex citation problems, are required along with the ability to ensure that library policies and procedures are followed. This position may supervise student employees and provide assistance at the circulation service and reference desks. The position involves physical activity including, but not limited to, pulling books and bound journals from shelves, lifting boxes, opening mail, sorting materials, and moving book trucks. The resource sharing team plays a vital role in supporting the teaching and research missions of the University of New Mexico (UNM) by processing over 60,000 requests in a typical year. UNM is a member of the Association of Research Libraries, the Greater Western Library Alliance, and the New Mexico Consortium of Academic Libraries. University Libraries on UNM’s Central Campus contains over 3 million volumes and includes three libraries: Centennial Science & Engineering Library, Fine Arts & Design Library, and Zimmerman Library (humanities, social sciences, and education). Zimmerman Library also houses the Center for Southwest Research and Special Collections as well as the Indigenous Nations Library Program. A fourth facility, the South Campus Repository, is currently being renovated, and will serve as a long-term repository for library collections. Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. |
