We have 2 new STEM to Read trunks available for checkout to public libraries! These trunks were created by the Mesa Prieta Petroglyph Project in Velarde, NM. They focus on the culture and history of New Mexico. These new trunks include 19 books and 19 lesson plans using a variety of materials on topics ranging from following the sun to building an adobe village.
There’s lessons/activities on the geology of the state- rocks and volcanoes included! There’s traditional farming/irrigation techniques, the history of petroglyphs (as well as lessons to make your own), weaving, and an introduction to archaeology.
These two trunks are identical and can be requested and checked out like all the other trunks, by emailing me at deanne.dekle@state.nm.us .They’re available for 4-6 weeks, depending on availability.
I’m really excited to add these to our existing trunks. They are a great cultural and historical component to our STEM programming materials!
