New York : Neal-Schuman Publishers, 2010 and 2012

Description from the ALA press release: Winner of the 2011 Greenwood Publishing Group Award for the Best Book in Library Literature, The TECH SET®#1-10 was praised by Library Journal as an essential reference “for anyone charged with determining or implementing the next generation of patron services.” The TECH SET® #11-20… is the next collection in the series. Edited by Ellyssa Kroski, these 10 volumes by the field’s hottest tech gurus provide practical instructions and advice on everything from planning and development to marketing and metrics. Each title in the series is a one-stop passport to an emerging technology, with tips for creating, collaborating, connecting and communicating through cutting-edge tools and techniques.

The two Tech Set series, each including 10 volumes, provide short introductions to a variety of techie library subjects. We now offer all 20 volumes of the Tech Sets in the New Mexico State Library’s Professional Collection. You can borrow any or all of them through interlibrary loan.

The Tech Set books are remarkable for being short, well-organized, to-the-point, and useful. You can pick one up and know very quickly whether the technology discussed will be of use to your library. These books will not waste your time. If you decide you want more information on a given subject, books 11-20 in the series have supplemental websites online.

Here’s a review of the second Tech Set (11 – 20) from Booklist, which says “The new volumes in the Tech Set series promise to be even more sought after than the first set of 10.” (please note there is a broken link to the supplemental websites in this review; the correct link is http://www.alatechsource.org/techset).
