  • Association of Rural & Small Libraries (ARSL) – The mission of ARSL is to provide a network of people and materials to support rural and small library staff, volunteers, and trustees to integrate the library thoroughly with the life and work of the community it serves. The ARSL also has a useful wiki.
  • Services to Small & Rural Libraries (WebJunction) – This site features resources, discussion boards, webinars and information on the Rural Library Sustainability Program.
  • California State Library’s Rural Library Initiative – The California State Library’s Rural Initiative is an LSTA funded project that directs resources to the state’s geographically isolated public libraries.  It includes the Rural Library Clearinghouse, a database of useful tools and info for rural librarians.
  • ALA Professional Resources for Rural & Small Libraries – This website features information on publications, resources, advocacy, funding sources and web links.
  • ALA Toolkit for Winning Support for Your Library – A suite of resources featuring tips and tools for ongoing library advocacy work and campaigns.
  • The Libri Foundation – The Libri Foundation is a nationwide non-profit organization which donates new, quality, hardcover children’s books to small, rural public libraries in the United States through its BOOKS FOR CHILDREN program.
  • New Mexico Library Foundation – New Mexico Library Foundation will support identified needs of New Mexico libraries. We will do this by providing grants to libraries to build and maintain their collections, update information access technology and enhance library programs.

  • The Rural Library Project – The Rural Library Project is a nonprofit organization committed to the establishment of new, small libraries in rural areas. The project collaborates with citizens, public library systems and governments in these areas to raise funds for and build libraries in their towns.
