New Mexico State Library

Continuing Education - General Information

The State Library Development Bureau’s Continuing Education Program is directed toward library directors and staff in public libraries.

Continuing Education Grants

Public libraries receive a continuing education grant annually from the State Library so that they may attend training events and conferences. The funds may be used to cover travel costs, substitutes, registrations, course fees, and other necessary costs for workshops and conferences. Libraries may also use these funds to purchase professional development materials for library staff use (books, periodicals, software manuals, videos, etc.); contract with a trainer to do in-house training; pay for online courses or on-site or online college classes; and attend relevant non-library related training such as computer classes.

State Library Workshops

The State Library provides workshops on a wide variety of topics around the state and soon plans to offer online workshops on core competency topics. Please stay tuned for updates on our training schedule.

Training Calendar

Please see our training calendar for current workshops and events.
