Rule Change Final!

E-mail Print

Memo to State Publication Program Libraries
July 15, 2010

Greetings Depositories!

It’s official! Starting on July 15th the state publications program can collect electronic documents! This is a change to the rules which has taken several years and a lot of work to accomplish. Notices and emails will be going out to state agencies to inform them of the change.

You can read the new rule at the New Mexico Register Website: http://www.nmcpr.state.nm.us/nmregister/xxi/xxi13/1.25.10.htm

In this shipment:
If you are in cattle country there are a number of publications from the NM Cooperative Extension Service dealing with multiple aspects of ranching.

Check out the health reports including the New Mexico HIV/AIDS annual surveillance report and the Selected Health Statistics for 2006.

Need ideas for inexpensive things to do with the kids? Check out the Summer guide to the museums.

And of course don’t forget the session laws. These can be surprisingly fun- look for the memorials and see what doesn’t get included in the online databases for NM statutes.

A Summer Shipment

Memo to State Publication Program Libraries

June 2010

Greetings Depositories!

Summer is here and so is another shipment of state docs- over 200 in this batch.

The rule change that will allow us to collect electronic documents will have its final commission meeting on June 17th.  If all goes well we should be collecting electronic documents by the end of the month.  This will lead to some new challenges for our tech services department which has been working to figure out how we will be handling what we expect to be a large quantity of materials.

Our thanks to those of you who have filled out the surveys.  We are working on telling the story of state docs so if you have any stories about how state docs have helped your patrons, or what state docs mean to you -- now is the time to share.

Due to the poor economy and space issues we have lost 2 depositories- Los Alamos and Carlsbad.   Thanks to all of you who are still working with us to provide the public with access to state materials.  If you know of any other libraries which may be interested in becoming a depository please let us know!

The new version of the state constitution, The Inspection of public records compliance guide, the executive budget, NM Geology, El Palacio and the much anticipated Brand Book are in this shipment.  Enjoy!

Memo to State Publication Program Libraries
December 2009

Greetings Depositories!

We have some great docs in this shipment! The items from the Attorney General’s Office are slick looking and informative. Some are updated versions of older publications and all of them are useful. From scams, identity theft, meth and My Right to Cancel which in comic book form, these are great publication your patrons will want to read. Pay close attention to these documents as they tend to flip- My Right to Cancel is in English and Spanish depending on which way you look at it, and the guides on meth and internet safety are divided into parent and teen sections.

There are 2 beautiful issues of NM Geology with great information about fossils and pictures of rock hammers. If you are interested in other geology docs there are lists of new publications (not just state) in the back of each issue.
