Tribal Libraries Program Grant

E-mail Print

Purpose of the Grant Program

The TLP has offered direct grants to eligible Tribal libraries in New Mexico for the past several years.  Tribal libraries are able to utilize TLP funds to meet the unique needs of each community.  Funds from these grants are designated for collection development, programming, furniture, computers and computer software and speakers' series.  In 2009, the New Mexico State Library expanded use of the funds to include Professional Development for Directors and Staff and to cover associated costs.

The TLP grants are available to expand and to enhance library services to tribal communities. The amount of the Tribal Libraries Program grants varies from year to year, depending on the State Library's program priorities. TLP grant funds cannot be used to replace local funds from tribal budgets. These funds also cannot be used for pre-grant costs or indirect (administrative) costs.

Eligibility
New Mexico Tribal libraries that meet all requirements of State Rule 4.5.2 and have submitted an online annual report through Bibliostat Collect, are eligible to apply for Direct Grants.
Process of Awarding Grants
TLP grants are non-competitive. Grants will be awarded based on submission of an application demonstrating how the funds will be used to meet the purposes of the TLP. A Grant Award Notification and Request for Invoice will be sent out. Payment cannot be made until an invoice is submitted.
Grant Period
The grant period is from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010 and all funds must be expended by this date.
